Audubon is pleased to offer a variety of nature-related programs for Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts. In many cases, scouts can earn entire badges during their visit. We are happy to plan programs that fit your schedule… after school, weekends, during school breaks… provided we have staff available. Click around this site to see what we already offer. If you are looking for something different, give us a call… Perhaps we can help!
On Your Own
You are welcome to bring your troops, packs, and dens to the nature center whenever we are open for self-guided activities. Regular admission fees apply. Click here for hours, directions, and fees.
Interest and Fun Patches
As an extension to many of our festivals and educational events, we have added Scout patch programs. Individual Scouts can earn these patches, or bring the whole troop, pack, or den. Pay regular admission fees to the festival or event, pick up a list of requirements and complete at least 4 of the activities. Purchase the fun patch for $3. Past patch programs have included:
- Snowflake Festival – Winter Fun Patch
First Saturday in February
- Monarch Butterfly Festival – Butterfly Patch
Last Saturday in August
Call ahead to ask if a patch program will be available for an upcoming Nature Center event.
Scheduling a Scout Program
To schedule a program for your Scout group, call with two or three possible dates and your calendar in hand. Together we’ll check dates to find a time that works for both of us. Programs can be scheduled at anytime – even when the building isn’t officially opened. We have done programs in the evening, on Saturdays or Sundays, and during school vacations. Most of the programs can be done during any season of the year. Weather won’t deter us, either. If the weather is really foul, we can do some of the badge requirements inside.
Often, we can tell you on the first phone call whether a date is available. Sometimes, we may have to check with staff before scheduling a definite date. We’re pretty flexible, so give us a call!
